Application Process
The Division of Gastroenterology at Cook County-John H. Stroger Hospital accepts fellowship applications from candidates who are eligible to take the American Board Examination in Internal Medicine at the time of starting Fellowship in Gastroenterology.
We are participating in the MATCH Program www.nrmp.org and we abide by its regulations and deadlines.
You can apply to our program via ERAS, an online, electronic application service www.aamc.org/eras for all positions beginning on July 1, 2013. Applicants will be able to access ERAS effective July 2012 to coordinate their application material. Applications can be electronically submitted to programs. Applicants should be ready to transmit their material to meet the deadline of August 15, 2012. All application packets must include three letters of recommendation addressed to our Program Director Bashar Attar, MD, PhD, copies of USMLE scores, personal statement and curriculum vitae.
The schedule for applying is as follows:
- July 1, 2012 Applicants can electronically apply (through ERAS) to the program.
- August 1, 2012 GI Match opens for on-line registration by programs and applicants.
- September 1, 2012 - October 31, 2012 Our program interviews applicants.
- Rank Order List (ROL) opens October 10, 2012.
- November 14, 2012 Rank Order List (ROL) Certifications due from programs and applicants.
- December 5, 2012 MATCH DAY.
