| Mission |
We are dedicated to improving the health of the people of Cook County through collaboration, innovation, rigorous scientific inquiry, and continuous learning.
|
| History |
The Collaborative Research Unit was created in 1998 to facilitate, coordinate, and lead interdisciplinary research within the Department of Medicine at Cook County Hospital. Its goal is to promote action research on highly prevalent problems affecting the health of the vulnerable and diverse patient population of Cook County. The scope of research, therefore, is necessarily broad—spanning health services research, clinical care, and community-based studies. Although focused on conducting collaborative research, the CRU also promotes research through consultation and by teaching an annual 9-month faculty development course on clinical research methods.
